The ultimate sugar-rich, high-biomass silage sorghum for temperate and drought-prone regions. SugarMonster 45 is a Canadian sweet sorghum hybrid developed over 12 years and released in 2007. It is designed as a direct replacement for silage corn, delivering 12–16 t/ha of forage dry matter with ultra-rich fermentable sugars and strong yield stability under low-water conditions.
SugarMonster 45 produces tall, leafy plants (250–280 cm) with 18–20% Brix juice, requiring 30–50% less water and ~70% of corn fertilizer requirements. It offers safe prussic acid levels, excellent digestibility and palatability, and performs well on alkaline and saline soils, making it ideal for silage, green chop, ethanol, and alcohol production.
ColdProof Trait lets you plant early and avoid summer droughts, even at a time when soil temperatures may temporarily drop as low as 10°C.
GrazeSafe Trait keeps your ruminant animals grazing safely even after a drought, frost, hail, snow or other stressors with zero prussic acid risk.
